Screw Conveyor vs. Bucket Elevators

Some people still think that a bucket elevator is the best choice for the vertical transport of bulk materials, when the truth is that a screw conveyor is often an even better choice. Hesitation could be due to an operator’s previously bad experience with a sub-standard screw conveyor, or poor maintenance practice.
There are cases where the consultant or engineer is not familiar with using vertical screw conveyors, and, therefore, feels uncomfortable recommending them. In many cases, vertical screw conveyors require less capital investment and installation cost. The space needed to install a screw conveyor is also noticeable less than for a bucket elevator.
