Mobile Harbour Cranes for 2 Italian Ports
Gottwald Port Technology GmbH (Gottwald) has received two more orders from Italy. Both CLP, at the Port of La Spezia, and ITSA, at the Port of Augusta, have ordered a Model 6 G HMK 6407 mobile harbour crane with a maximum lifting capacity of 100 tonnes for handling containers.
Compagnia Lavoratori Portuali La Spezia (CLP), a terminal operator in the port of La Spezia in the northwest of Italy, intends to benefit from its purchase of the G HMK 6407 mobile harbour crane to boost its capacity in the growing field of container handling. The decisive reason for this operator to opt for Gottwald was the positive experience with two Gottwald mobile harbour cranes gained by other terminal operators at the port of La Spezia. The new crane is due to commence work before the end of July.
Another Gottwald G HMK 6407 mobile harbour crane is to begin service in July at the Sicilian port of Augusta. The operator of that crane is International Terminal Service Augusta (ITSA), a subsidiary of the US International Transportation Service (ITS). Only last year, ITSA took delivery of and commissioned its first G HMK 6407 crane. Both these mobile harbour cranes are to be used mainly for handling containers.
Gottwald Port Technology GmbH, a subsidiary of Demag Cranes AG based in Düsseldorf, Germany, is one of the leading manufacturers of harbour cranes and port automation technology. Gottwald supplies customers in some 90 countries and generated revenue of almost EUR 300 million in financial year 2006/2007 with its workforce of about 800.
